Jeff Gordon Foundation has built a children's cancer wing on Butaro Hospital in Rwanda, Africa. In 2011, a small group of ladies started a quilt program to make quilts for the patients. They started out with 14 quilts and have since grown to over 200 a year! Now they need more volunteers...
RITA BARRETT WILL BE HERE WITH QUILT KITS FOR ANYONE TO COME AND WORK ON QUILTS FOR THE CHILDREN IN RWANDA. BRING YOUR MACHINE!
(This will be a reoccurring quilt meetup so you can finish a quilt over time)
Speaking with a doctor from Boston that visits Butaro hospital several times a year, we've asked what else can we do for these children beside quilts. His answer was the quilts are the most important service project we could provide. The families in Rwanda have never received something so beautiful and to know that the quilt is theirs to keep overwhelms them.
Our goal is to provide the most beautiful quilts. We believe that they must be of the highest quality and beautifully bright and fun for the children. Most of the quilts contain machine or hand embroidered pictures that make them even more special.
