Crazy-Quilted Tote - Serger Project

Create this fun tote bag using a flatlock stitch, which, combined with heavy decorative threads, will enhance the crazy-=quilted center. The crazy-quilting technique you'll learn is perfect for clothing, home decor, or craft projects. And it's great for using up some of your fabric scraps.

This project also includes instructions for braided handles as an alternative to the handles in your bag pattern. They're fun and easy, too!

Supplies Recommended:

  • Tote bag pattern of your choice
  • 6-8 fabrics at least 4" - 12" in size
  • 2 or 3 colors of heavy decorative threads
  • 2 spools heavy decorative thread in contrasting colors for the serger braid
  • 4 spools regular serger thread
  • Fabric stiffener or fabric spray
  • Mini iron
  • Cutting mat and pressing surface
  • 36mm double-fold bias binder
